Olympic physio the right medicine for Territory
A SPECIALIST sports physiotherapist who ensured the Australian men's water polo team were primed to compete in the Athens 2004 Olympics is now helping patients in the Territory.
Simon Mole is the latest addition to Territory Sportsmedicine in Parap in Darwin. He is among just eight specialists in his field in Australia - and the first to be based in the NT.
Mr Mole 37, said it was great to be able to return to the Territory. He did some work in Darwin from 2001 to 2004.
"What the Territory has to offer is different," he said. "Both the professional and life experiences are amazing."
The father-of-three said he became interested in sports physio after watching the "miracles" that Greg Craig was able to perform during the Bledisloe Cup matches with little more than his hands, a water bottle and a wet sponge.
"It is very challenging work but i love it," he said. "Every person who walks through the door has a different injury."
He said working for the mens water polo Olympic team was a highlight of his career.
"I got involved with the team in 1998 and travelled with them for six years as team physio,"he said.
